Happy 95th Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA, GREAT-GRANDMA, GREAT- GREAT GRANDMA, MOM, etc! Yep, 95 years, and she still lives on her on! She's lived through hard times and not so hard. When she had her East Texas farm, as kids, we took turns staying with her, in the summer. The sun would barely be up, and she would be singing and telling us to get up, the day's a wastin' and half the day's gone. We would spend the morning picking vegi's and running from the bees. haha. The hot afternoon would include a nap, after shelling the beans and peas. We almost always HAD to fish in the evenings. If a snake came after me, and I started swatting my fishin' pole at it or jumpin' or runnin' from it, she'd start hollorin' at me. After all, I was disturbing the fish!!! She was a hoot and still is! Then there was taking care of the cows, shooting the gun in the middle of the night to scare the coyotes, and my pet opossums (I had 2 babies I saved and took home). We had to can lots of the fruits and vegi's. The work was hard, but we couldn't wait for next summer to come and were a little jealous if one of the other kids got to stay longer. We filled the nights with cards and dominoes ( and yes, Grandma has been know to cheat). Best of all was the cooking and all the fresh food! Oh, I could eat 5 ears of corn in 1 meal, and I was a skinny thing..... a plate full of fresh blackeyed peas with tomatoes, or how about half a watermelon...mmmm good! Grandma, thanks for the great childhood memories, the good food, the love, and all that rocking! And I STILL have a hard time keeping up with YOU! God Bless You!
