Merry Christmas!

Our dog, Precious, is enjoying her first white Christmas (2004). Our pets get excited along with us during the holidays, so don't forget to enjoy them, also.
I hope y'all have a Merry Christmas and know the love of our Savior Jesus!

I love a good laugh...espcially when it's on me!

First this pic has nothing to do with the story. BUT, for all the times it was said, there would NEVER be a WHITE CHRISTMAS, in south Texas, on the Gulf coast......Here's to THE God doing whatever He pleases, to bless! Two years ago we got our white Christmas, with 2 feet of snow...impossible..... I don't think so.... very unlikely, yeah, but it happened! Now to the story about Christmas shopping orders!

My sister has a gift store (for 17+ years). It's a very special store that ladies LOVE to go to. When relatives visit, from out of town, they tell their folks they want to come to her store, while they are in the area. Her toll free number gets routed to my home, since her store gets very busy. So I take any questions someone may have, etc. (some may be about internet orders).
So a few days ago, I get a call for a "Mrs. Very Famous Family USA" name to place an order (it was a man placing the order....I just thought he was placing it for his wife, or something like that). I asked if the name was with "1 certain letter or 2". He said one, sounding like what kind of idiot didn't know how to spell their name. The deal is, that I lived in South Texas for over 20 years, and there was a whole family of ranchers with the same name with "1 certain letter" in it. And THEY had a whole county NAMED after them (never mind that the county had way more cows than people). I wasn't going to make fun of this fella', and say something like hey just like the famous "so and so's". At this point, I never really thought it could possibly be the REAL famous ones. So I keep plugging along, asking for his address, and as my pen is skipping out, I have to ask him to spell the address a couple of times, etc ( by now the guy's got the be thinking what idiot have I called up?). As we get near the end he informs me that he is her personal assistant, and to be sure to send this, attention to "Mrs. Very Famous Person USA". It wasn't until then that everything suddenly hit me. The name, address, and PERSONAL ASSISTANT were indicators that either this was THE family, or we were being scammed. I thanked him for the order and hung up.
I cracked up laughing, thinking if he was the real deal, he must've thought he had just got of the phone with the biggest idiot from "Podunk, Texas," and what was he doing giving his CC info out to her. But then I thought if he is the real deal, he didn't have to worry about his CC. If there was any wrong doings on our end, they could hunt us down in a flash. My sister's first response was...oh this has to be a scam. I looked up the address he gave me. You could get a virtual reality tour online of their home.....but then anyone could look that up and get that info. I didn't get all the info my sister needed for the order, so I told her she could call him back. I said I made a big enough idiot of myself the first time, asking him to respell everything. It looks like it is the real family. I laughed so much at myself, wondering if that guy thought there could be people that uneducated, in civilization, that has never heard of this family. But then again, many claim that Texas is not civilized! Merry Christmas!

update and prayer for Dan and family

Daniel went back at the Md hospital for his checkup. The 4th toe is not doing so good; he is back on full scale antibiotics, and he will have another surgery next week (no gory details). Both legs and all other toes and feet, otherwise, are healing. Praise God! After all this time, they are again saying that the brain injury may be worse than they thought and at this point are trying to decide if they should put in a plate. They just got word that two more soldiers, from his unit in Afghanistan, were hurt (one hit in the neck). Please keep this family and all our soldiers in prayer. Also Daniel's sister, H, fell down a flight of stairs (Friday, at college). She broke some teeth, they cut through her lip, and she will need some root canals done (there was so much damage). She was flown home to dad, with mom in MD with Daniel.

Three Puppies!

The last one, a boy, came some time after 6am. He is a little lighter color than the other 2, but also, this is after a few hours and his coat has dried.
They stay cuddled together, and I have to take them out of the kennel to get Momma outside to take care of her business. Otherwise, she will not leave them at all.

First One is Here!

A girl is the first to come, around 4:20am. I think she will turn a lighter red, as she gets older
you can see the red tints).
Second pup, a boy came around 5:20am.
Also, as you can see, Dachshunds are born fairly flatnosed and short eared. The first set of pups I had (many years ago), I panicked and thought a "fence jumper" (or should I say "fence digger") had some how been in my yard. But I quickly found out that their nose and ears grow long in just a few weeks.

By the way, I think my first set of pups was born on the first birthday of my second son, while I was preparing for his birthday party. The 5 year old informed me that he heard "mice" under the couch. Yep, she had the pups right there, on the carpet , under the couch, right before all the company came. I turned the couch over, fixed something up for her and the pups, cleaned up the mess, etc. It was some day.

Puppies Are Coming!

Well, they are sort of on the way. Momma's going in and out of the kennel and scratching the paper to shreds. BUT she usually takes a little longer for delivery than most dogs. So it may be a few more hours. I've been telling the boys that they are going to have to help with the delivery and all that "good stuff" (to which they are not looking foward)...haha...I'm usually down flat on the floor, constantly looking into the kennel, , changing the paper, making sure everything is alright, etc. I have even had to pull a breached pup out one time. I had to have one of the boys help with that, and he was not PLEASED! Guess what. As soon as both boys leave to go somewhere for a few hours, SHE GOES INTO LABOR! If they don't get home in time, I may have to see if I can slightly elevate the kennel and give her steps, to get in and out. Oh well, it'll all work out. Puppies and pics will be coming soon!
