Bev's Dan is an out- patient...Prayers work

Daniel is now an out patient at the Md hospital. He is staying with his mother, Beverly, at a hotel ( the rooms at the base, for the families, are full). He is healing well. The leg has been cast, and the stitches were taken out of the legs. He had many surgeries on the foot. As of now, all toes are still there. The fourth toe may have some pink returning (it is the main concern). The rest are looking good. They can't cast the foot until the stitches are taken out of the toes, which may happen Nov. 2. There is some concern about the head injury. It was noted in Germany about the concern, and some thing got "shuffled" in the paper work, and nothing had really been done about it. It did injure the brain slightly, so they have him on seizure medication. And they are waiting on an appt with a neurologist, etc. Your prayers are a part of his healing, and they are so thankful. They have also thanked me for the notes and emails. Continued prayers for healing and strength are so much appreciated, because they are answered by God.
Now you may wonder where is Dan in this pic (the little one is my oldest, then me, then Bev). I'll give you a hint. If I remember correctly, he was a little past the stage of the "twinkle" in her eye. We were in Colorado, camping, and it was my first introduction to Daniel(although we didn't know he was a Daniel, yet). Hey Dan!

They're all together ..and don't you just love puppies

The Peters family made it to Md Saturday night. I can only imagine the joy the family felt. As of Monday, they were casting the bones in the foot and leg (every time the Drs went in surgery to remove toes, they ended up leaving them! so hopefully that means all toes stay). God moved some mountains to get the family to Daniel. Know they are all VERY thankful for the prayers. It will be a long, painful recovery for Daniel, so keep the prayers going. Our God is sooo faithful!

On another note...this is a pic of Rascal, from long, long, ago. I do believe Barry named him. I love puppies! They have so much expression in their whole body. They are like toddlers, always exploring, wanting love, putting everything into the mouth, getting into things, suddenly crashing and falling asleep. They are a handful. But if you train them, when they are young, they make such wonderful companions as adults. It reminds me of the Proverbs 22:16 verse "Train up a child in the way he should go. Even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Now sometimes for people, it seems like the "old" part can be VERY old before they decide they will not depart from it. It is much easier to train a puppy(ok, not AS rewarding as your children, but sometimes more loveable..when all you have is teenage boys..haha). When a puppy loves you, he wants to please you. So when he finally understands what you want, he will do it. Dachshunds are very smart and brave dogs. Books explain that is one of the reason they can go down into holes and fight badgers (without a master constantly giving commands; they can think for themselves). It can make it easy for training; it can also make it difficult for training. But if you train them, you will not be sorry. They are the best!
And don't forget to have some fun and love on them when you are training them!

The family is on the way to see Dan in Md! Thank You God!

Dan will be staying at Walter Reed, Md, at least for a few days. Please PRAY! A LOT IS GOING ON AT THIS TIME! Dan had another surgery. The Dr's are giving him a real good checking over...including the head injury. For now, Dan still has all toes. The whole family should be arriving in MD this evening. God is WAY bigger than the US Army, and He can do all things. Lord I ask for continued healing of Daniel, wisdom for the doctors, and bring his family to him. Thank You.
It's been many days since he's been injured in Afghanistan. I'm so glad the family will finally be holding their loved one! Yes, he may be one of many soldiers, but he is THEIR ONE...love you guys
OK. This pic is just way too adorable to pass up.

Dan in The USA, BUT ARMY MAY NOT SEND THEM TO SEE HIM

What's a parent to do? Here's a pic to tribute to the faithful, loving, never ending praying parents of Daniel. The parents who have faith that God will help them know what to do and when. But I know it must still hurt, wanting to be with him, yet not able. This Is the latest from Friday Morning:

Daniel is on his way home!!! We called Germany early this morning and Dan has been discharged and is on the plane headed for the USA!!! Yea!!! He will be at Walter Reed sometime this evening.

Because Dan has been taken off of the SI List (seriously injured list), he will most probably be redirected back to Ft. Bragg, which is his home base. The Womack Hospital on the base is expecting his arrival sometime Saturday afternoon. Because it is the weekend, paperwork will not be completed and filed until Monday morning. Because he may be considered an outpatient, the military may not transport us, his family, down to see him.

In the midst of all the good news about Dan, there is some frustration on my part that the timing on things seems to keep us from being able to act on our impulses to just get down there, wherever "there" may be, to see our son. I am reminded daily that our timing is not God's timing, nor are we any more special than all the other servicemen and women who are returning from the battlefront to their awaiting family members. I am so very grateful that Dan's wounds have been attended to in such a way that he is healing at a progressive rate and his outlook is very positive.

Dan's prayer needs and hope of coming to USA

I talked to Bev after Dan had another procedure. For now all toes are still there, with hopes that the skin underneath is still alive (the last 2 are not looking good). They were able to sew up most of the wounds on both legs, but I don't know if the broken bones are set, yet.

She's been receiving many encouraging emails and cards for him and SSG Robertson, and can't wait to deliver them. (Daniel went to Afghanistan 3/2/2006.)
"Dan has been removed from the seriously injured list...although this is a good thing, it may also delay him coming home as the ones in most urgent need get priority first. I know that God will bring him home in His perfect timing.....but it sure is hard to wait. ;-)

As of this morning, he’s on the list to come to Washington...Walter Reed tomorrow...he’ll spend the night and then they will ship him to Womack Hospital at Ft Bragg, North Carolina". That is his "home base".

He's actually talked to the flight surgeon, and that's suppose to mean a sure thing.

Her daughter's college excused from her classes indefinately, so that she could come home, and be ready to go down there. So keep the prayers going for his toes, feet, legs, spirit, and the whole family. Oh, just let the Holy Spirit lead you in what to pray. He knows better than I do!

In this PIC, the 2 Peters boys were the ones wearing the caps (the other little one is my oldest)...aren't they cute! The pic did have me in it, and I edited me out. That's the nice thing about computers. I was nothing but skin and bones any ways.....

Keep Praying for their PRECIOUS SOLDIER

Dan's flight was cancelled (mechanical problems with plane). They flew the other soldier (SSG Robertson) to US on Sunday (I am glad for his family). This is sooooo hard on family! It has been a week. The army THOUGHT they would get him to Germany right away, and then they THOUGHT he would only be there a COUPLE OF DAYS, and then he would be in the US. But things didn't happen that way. And Bev and Roy have been waiting and waiting to see their son, instead of going on to Germany. We do not mean to complain too much, for we are VERY THANKFUL that they are going to see their son, one day, just not as soon as hoped. We just hurt for them. I know she wants to be with him. I know it feels like he is alone, even though he is surrounded by nurses and Drs. But even more than that, he is surrounded by God's love and his family's love, love that no ocean can seperate, nor keep from him. And he is surrouned by lots of prayers!

Bev's title to her (edited) email from Monday was "To stay or not to stay".
The title says it all.....Dan's flight home tomorrow has been delayed. It seems there are mechanical problems with the plane. His new departure date is Wed....maybe.... I'd like to just jump on a plane and head over there, but just as sure as I would, then we would cross paths in the air. It's hard to be patient....

I did talk to Dan this morning. He had just gotten out of OR again (another procedure?). He was in quite a bit of pain. I'm not sure what procedure they did this morning...so don't have many details other than he said his right leg was numb and he was sweating profusely...He sounded very uncomfortable. But the nurses were there attending to him. I just have to trust that they were able to stabilize the situation.

Prayers for Dan, fun days, and dachshunds like to play

Bev said the latest news is that Dan may be moved to Md on Tuesday, with another injured soldier. Last I talked to her, one of his toes was losing some color. So please keep the prayers going strong. They would love to know who all is praying, so here is Bev's email: byhisgrace404@verizon.net

This is is pic of Bev holding Dan, (then my oldest) and Daddy Roy at the Denver Zoo.
We had fun that day. I pray for your family to hold on to God's strength, peace, healing, and look forward to more fun days with the family!
You'll be seeing him soon!!!

Dachshunds love to play, too. They love to play with people. If they are left alone too long every day, they sometimes get into trouble. They are dogs that need love. Sometimes Vets recomend they have a "friend" to keep them company if the masters are going to be gone most of the time. This is a pic of my very first, very own dachshund, Rascal, and his brother Tigger. Well, not exactly my very own. I had to literally get on my hands and knees and beg my husband for him (the other pup, Tigger, we bought for my parents). Guess who became extremely attatched to Rascal. So I had to share him with the hubby. When he was stolen from us, Barry spent weeks going up and down the streets of our town calling for Rascal, hoping to find him. The pup we bought for my parents was the dog that lived for 16 years, and he was one of the smartest dogs ever. I think the day he died my mom cursed me and told me to NEVER giver them a dog again. Then every time they would find a dog hair, they would talk about cloning him.

Update on Dan, PLEASE KEEP PRAYING

I can't imagine what Bev, Roy , and H(little sis) are going through. It breaks my heart, and he's not even mine. OK, so I have a pic of Dan, half naked, too..woohoo! Tell him when he gets stronger, he can hunt me down and get me for this. I don't think he's changed much, except got a little taller. The other little one, sitting next to me, is my first born. I just wanted to give you a little smile Bev and family. I love you guys. I'm praying, and I know your holding on to our Lord for all your strength. Here's what her latest update is. 10/5

We were finally able to get through to Daniel tonight. Poor thing...It was
1 am there and he still hasn't been able to rest because of x-rays, blood
draws and his mom and dad tracking him down. ;-) All in all he sounded
good, but tired. He still remembers quite a bit of detail. So that tells
me that the head injury wasn't too bad. Yea!

The doctors will perform a procedure on him in the morning. The purpose is to take a closer look at the broken bones in his right leg and foot and to see how the re-attachment of his toes is coming along. I thought he had said a few toes. As it turns out, it is all 5 toes. They were all severed, as well as the ball of his right foot. Ouch! The rest of the injuries are chunks taken out of his legs from the flying shrapnel. Hopefully they will heal quickly. He said his dog tags have a dent in them! If all goes well tomorrow, he's thinking that he will head for the states on Sunday. So now we wait for the diagnosis of his doctors.

I've included a link below that pretty much tells the story of what happened. Please keep these Canadian families in your prayers as they grieve for these men.

Again, thanks for your prayers and encouragement.

A young injured soldier needs prayers!

A very dear and special friend of mine,B's, son was injured in Afghanistan on 10/3. Please pray for him and his family and for his unit!

D was injured in a mortar attack this past evening. Both legs were badly injured. He said he has holes in both legs and his right leg and foot are broken. They had to reattach a few of his toes. So there is a chance he may loose them. He did have a head injury, but he said he didn't think it was bad. He said there was so much blood on his face that he thought he was blind. How scary that must have been!

He is being sent to Germany sometime today. I'm not sure how the process will go. I'm sure they will re-evaluate his injuries in Germany before they decide when he can come home. I will send out another update as I get more information.

Please pray for the remaining soldiers in his unit. They were still under attack when D was evacuated. The Taliban are not letting up. Our soldiers need every bit of support that we can give them.

Here is another link with a couple of pics of D
